A very historical day!

Today I had CNN.com playing for the students so they could be a part of this day in history. Many of the students didn't understand why I would have it playing and others took the attitude that they didn't like him and didn't want to watch it. I got up on my soapbox and told them that even if they don't like him or believe the same things he does, that this is something that will be in our history books and they have the option of being able to watch and create memories that they can share with their grandchildren some day. My language arts class had to write a persuasive essay earlier this school year about who they would vote for and why. I'm hoping some day that their answers and thoughts go deeper than skin color and they learn to look at the real issues at hand.

I am proud to say that I voted for Obama. I am proud to be an American and to have this opportunity to witness our first African American president. I hope that people who do not share my views are still able to respect our new President and pray for him and his family, as he has a lot of hard times coming his way.
